About Betsy Ross…  Betsy Ross’ maiden name is Griscom.  She was born on January 1st, in 1752. (the year the victory bell was put up) so sometimes her family, called her and the victory bell twins!
Betsy Ross, was amazing, at sewing.  When she was ten or so, she was better than her mother! (and sisters… of which she had many:)
The Griscom family were all Quakers.

When there was a fair in the town, Betsy wanted to enter something for the sewing competition, but did not really have anything to enter because, since they were Quakers, they didn’t have much variety for clothing which if you think about it, how would a plain white bonnet win a sewing competition?
So as you can imagine, Betsy was very discouraged. Then she decided to make a sampler. But she thought, “samplers are for little kids.” but, what if she made it really nicely? So she did, Betsy sewed the Liberty Bell, will the moon and stars around it!
Then she won, first prize! against all the women in Pennsylvania!
...So she lived a pretty normal life, as normal as you can get when you are a amazing seamstress!
She married John Ross, and became Betsy Ross!
Then as you should know, George Washington asked her to make the Stars And Stripes!
I personelly think, she did wonderfully!!!
